Thank you for your response, Yair.
We would like to see more of your modeling skills in finish and in progress building. |

Indeed we would. What you've posted so far is fantastical. A build thread by you would be most welcome. Also more pictures of completed models as Gerardo said.

Dear Gerardo and Elliott- you both not need. to worry as I have building diaries of my latest models.
Up to now I only raised 6 models so I have at least some more 30 to go ( all are jet fighters as this is my niche ). I will try to make it gradually as I am very busy during the week and have more time to respond in weekends. Besr Regards for you both Yair |

As you have the time, certainly. Real life always comes first.

Dear John -your drawings are looking very good !!!
The f8u like the f7u that flew before both were not considered easy plane to bring hack on board. I saw an f8u film that is about carrier landings with many accidents Yair |

Thanks! I need to get back to drawing some more!
Yeah getting aboard the boat was tough for allot of the second gen fighters........mostly due to poor engine performance........... but in all honesty.........landing any aircraft on a moving deck takes nerves of steel then and now. And that's in the daylight......... they do this at all hours in all weather...... I think they are very unappreciated for this and I admire the heck out of each and every one of them! Growing up with my Dad in the NAVY and him serving aboard carriers during this time, I remember watching these birds fly all the time.......The Crusader could really move. |

F-8e crusader
More photos of the Crusader.
Some of the photos are with MIG 21 ( GPM 52 ) which was most comparable to the crusader in terms of performance. Crusader crews had 3 confirmed mig 21 kills in Vietnam while the rest 16 were mig 17 kills. The mig 17 was numerically the most used fighter by the Vietnamese and therefore most of the American kills belong to this type. Yair |

F-8e crusader - pins story
The first F-8U to enter carrier service was the dash 1 in 1957.
During catapult launching it happens that the crusader had a roll stability problems that in some severe cases caused the plane to roll badly to one side while loosing height and then crashed into the ocean water while taking the pilot with him..... The remedy to this disturbing issue was the installing of two big pins in the F8U-2 below the rear part that gave the plane more roll stability. Yair |
