Md 450 ouragan 1:48 IAF

Dear All,

I attach here photos of the IAF Ouragan.
Was the first jet of Dassault after ww2 and in many ways can be compared with the straight wing f-84 Thunderjet.
The Ouragan entered the IAF in 1955 and served till 1973.
The two main conflicts that the type participated were in Kadesh in 1956 and in the six day war in 1967.
The Ouragan was known as a hard. Plane to fly by its pilots.
The controls were mechanic with cables and required strong force.
Also the distance between the main gears was small- somthing that
made the landings a core for a new pilot and of course no trainer.
Despite all this it had a strong frame and was popular by young pilots.
In 1975 the remains were sold to Honduras and later were followed by
Saar fighters that were sold to Honduras as well. The Saar service was much
better as it was a much modern design.

Md 450 Ouragan in Six day war

During the six day war the Ouragan squadron 113 or Hornet was the biggest with no less then 51 planes which is 4 notmal status american squadrons.
Therfore the ouragan served as a fighter bomber carying bombs and rockets beside the 4 × 20mm guns.
The ouragan was send to the closest air fields in Sinai desert in moked operation.
The main drawback of the plane was its relative slowness which was 100 miles less than the rest of the IAF jet fighters at low altitiude somthing that made him more prone to damage from anti aircraft ground fire.
During the air strikes one of the ouragans saw mig 21 that just became airborn after takeoff
and shut the mig 21 down - Great success for the Ouragan which was much inferior plane !!!

Ouragan vs mig 21

Attached here images of Ouragan beside mig 21.
The mig here is a later version of the one used by the Egyptian air force during the six day war.
The Ouragan scheme represent the Kadesh operation
with the yellow black stripes. The British planes that operated
in muskatir operation at the same time as the Kadesh operation
had the same stripes on the naval sea hawk and venum and the
Hunters mk.5 that operated from Cyprus.

Thanks !
There is a similar Ouragan with the same shark mouth on the website but with no pictures of the finished model that's why I thought this was this one ^
Also Very nice MIG-21 !
Regards
Ronan
