Wow! Yair, that's a lot of models. How long have you been making paper airplanes exclusively?

Hi paperengineer - the models that I am into building are only jet fighters.
The reason why I like the old jets is the color schems that were vivid compare
to dull paint schemes of modern jet fighters.
Currently my fleet is around 45 models.

Super etendard vs A-7 Corsair

Attached here photos of Super Etendard and A-7 Corsair.
Both are in 1:48 scale.
It is interesting to see the American vs France approach and the
different design philosofy.
The build diary of the A-7 will be opened in a new thread.

The A-7 looks like a fat Lightning compared to the Etendard, interesting comparison on strikingly similar yet very different planes

Super etendard - some facts

The super etendard gained its fame in the Falkland islands war in 1982.
The naval unit of Argentine had only 5 but they were able to wreck havoc
among the Royal navy ships.
As with most French fighters the lines of the super etendard are very
sleek and streamlined . Therefore the type with non after burning engine
Atar 8K with 11000 lb thrust has nice performance.
Speed approaches mach 1 at the deck and supersonic up to mach 1.3 at height.
Initial rate of climb of 20000 is a nice figure for a non AB engine.
In comparison to american fighters such as the A-4 skyhawk with the J52 - 408 that has the same engine thrust as the french fighter the A -4 performance of 0.9 mach and 13000 feet rate of climb are looking modest.
However in a close dog fight the two are very similar with a slight advantage
to the skyhawk.
The weapon system and the agave naval radar of the super etendard are of a much modern era and therefore as a pure naval attack aircraft the super etendard is much more effective in compare to the A-4.
If we will look at the heroic A-4 attacks of the Argentine pilots on the Royal navy ships the super etendard fired its deadly Exocet missiles from distance with impunity.
