Super Etendard- the Falkland war 1982

The Super Etendard was developed from the Etendard IV of the french aeronaval.
The Super Etendard started to get into service in the late 70's. Argentina bought 5
of these naval attack fighters and when the Falkland war started they were ready.
The main weapon of the SE was the aerospaceial excocet missile.
The SE had a very good naval maping radar named Agave that could identify naval ships
from more than 40 km distance and when fired the missile had an internal guidance system
that was tracking the target alone -so the SE could turn back to base with impunity and
without even coming close to the british task force which used the sea harrier with big
success. Of course in order to avoid detection the SE flew at very low level.
In this way the HMS Sheffield and a few other british ships were badly bit.

Attached here more photos of the SE in 1:48 scale.
The excocet missile will be add later.

Super etendard - the Iraqi service

Not many know about the Super etendard in the Iraqi service. The Iraqis actually loan some
5 Super Etendard from France in 1984 for use against the Iranian oil tankers in the Persian golf. It is known that there were several attacks on Iranian oil tankers and oil facilities at near the Fao island but again many things about this war are still unknown very clear.
What is known is that 4 of the 5 loaned Super Etendards were given back to France in the late
80's before end of hostilities took place.
It seems like the Argentina Super Etendard story that the type was filling very effectively a certain niche in a way that required only a small number of aircraft to be used .
This is a testimony for the good design philosophy of the Super Etrndard.

Attaced are more photos with A-7D Corsair II.

Hi Buschlaid - i keep my models in a glass vitrine. This way of storing prevents the no.1 paper models enemy which is the dust to reach them . Some of the models I have are more than 20
years or from the early 90's and are still in a new condition.

Thanks for your reply - Yair
