Murph's Models - North American NAA 133 Seahorse, 1/30, Beta Build
Here's the Seahorse, another Murph's great design. Built as is which is over one foot long. Wrote a few paragraphs on it but forgot to upload and now can't recall what I have said so much about this model. Anyway, it's a straight forward build but do have patience when glueing the tail fin and wing fairings that need be wider. Pics are better than words, so here they are.

Yes. A beautiful model. I must admit that I was previously unaware of this project. Apparently the Mustang was easy to land aboard a carrier and, had not the invasion of Iwo Jima made land-based escort possible, there would have been a lot more Mustangs in Navy blue.
As usual, outstanding work, Papermate. Don |

An odd project, to say the least, in that Hellcats and Corsairs equaled or exceeded the Mustang's capabilities. Maybe range was a factor? Interesting model and great build, Murph/Papermate.

Range was the factor, but the taking Iwo Jima made the need for it moot.........

The Navy at the time thought that a water cooled engine in an airplane made about as much sense as an air cooled engine in a submarine.

They also figured there were less moving parts to get shot away in combat. |
