Beautiful build! I have admired this model from afar for a couple of years now and have it downloaded, but I've haven't mustered the courage to attempt it. You've certainly done it justice.

Excellent model! It's a pity that there aren't many of those beautiful racing planes available in paper.

Great build! I like the use of the metallic paper on the props and spinner. Very nice plane :D

It's a beautiful model of a beautiful airplane.
I very much enjoyed seeing your sketches and the in-progress photos. I learned a lot from this thread. And if I could build paper models while watching episodes of Law&Order Criminal Intent, my productivity would increase! Don |

Thanks and answers
To
cdwheatley : The glue is :For the body UHU , common. For the tail , white glue , I need wet paper. And for the wiring Cyano. The glossy paper it's a little bit tricky . You need to mark the fold line from behind always. Kazziga : Yes it's a pity , I only know the Curtiss , and one prototype of the Supermarine. willygoat :It's not metalic paper , it's aluminium foil glued whith white glue. redhorse :Now I'm going back to the ZIS 5 , my old pal. This is a great build and useful reference for those who would like to build this model (myself included)
Every time I try this myself I get ripples in the aluminum foil. Any suggestions? Last edited by spirtos; 06-06-2009 at 12:40 PM. Reason: spelling |

Wow, looks great. I built this one a long time ago. Mine can't compare. What do you use to get the gloss finish?

A very nice build of one of the most attractive seaplanes ever made.
I genufluct in your general direction...<g> and chant, "we're not worthy, we're not worthy..." @ spirtos, I recall as a kid that we could soak the tissue paper off of the aluminium foil from a cigarette pack and then by rubbing it with our thumbnail get it to stick to just about anything, with a bit of practice it was a very smooth finish. This was with Canadian brands, I don't know about those from other countries. Rick |

shining shining.......
Ha! , Is not so much ...
I really like to modify a model. I have a micro servant (Boris) and I asked him to build a big piece with aluminium foil. I hope that helps to illustrate how I do. 1)I chose a cube of 5 X 5 cm. 2)White-glue throughout the piece, spread with the fingers. 3)stuck head to toe, to avoid bubbles and cracks 4)Cut the excess aluminium and bend inwards 5)and can only build. For smaller parts the result is better. For very large parts, without the paper and aluminium use only. This is a joke, but the other day I saw a great work: |
