MACCHI M.C 72 (canon papercraft) Un bella machina rossa

Hello :

I usually donít build planes , itís a matter of storage place at home.

But , especially for the exhibition in Barcelone I choose one from Canon web site.

MACCHI Castoldi 72

The Macchi M.C. 72 was an experimental seaplane designed and built by the Italian aircraft company Macchi Aeronautica. The M.C. 72 held the world speed record for all aircraft for five years. In 1933 and 1934, it set a world record for speed over water which still stands to this day. (source wikipedia)

See more at: Macchi M.C.72 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

For me one of the most beautiful planes in history.
started by the propellers, in the model are fixed and flat.
I find a good solution.

from head to toe.... (tail)

Good fitting wings/body

the floats:
I have to edit some parts , they have too much text like this:
It says:Do not peck with the beak.Doing so could result in injury.Adults , make sure children follow this caution.

Start with the moaning

Tank's for your words cdwheatley.
So.... The problems.
The model don't have cardboard formers and the legs only have two rigid points. from a square paper.
When I try to glue the floats to the body it was dramatic.
I need to fit a metal piece inside the paper formers.

And the hard work begins , in this plane the structure was fixed with wire , in fact ,flat lines of steel painted in red.
The model use paper ,but do not run , I try plastic , aluminium and finally steel,Chinese steel
painted, it work very well.

I think Leif gona like this , or not ,it's not pure paper (It's a joke ,were is the smiley? )

Great build of a pretty aircraft - the glossy paper helps as well.

The italian tail

Hard work to do the tail without formers , it took two C.S.I episodes.

At the end ,the Italian flag in the tail , I make a cardboard structure to simulate the wood inside.

And the final pictures:

Very fun , but the model needs a lot of formers.
Now I'm going back to my truck.

That looks amazing! The spinner looks very realistic, as does the tail with those simulated ribs. Very nice use of glossy paper too, was it difficult to stick together? Great job .
