Vought SB2U Vindicator
I've scratch built this based mostly off of Wikipedia's 3 view. The internal structure of the wings uses the same method I used on Chaiwatkom's P-40.
Though the Vindicator was a dive bomber, the lineage from this plane to the Corsair is very apparent. The nose is removable so that I can adjust the weight and balance for flight. |

Excellent. I always like to see scratchbuilding, and the SB2U was, to my eye, a very good-looking airplane.

Thanks, Don! By the way, in the link below there is great interview with a man who flew one during The Battle of Midway. I don't want to spoil the whole story, but his tail gunner ending up shooting down two Zeros with the .30 cal mounted in the back.
Interview with World War II SB2U-3 Pilot Sumner H. Whitten Canopy on. |
