North American P-51H 1/100 scale

Hi people!

In this month my modelling activity is few, but the results slow show.

One is a second build test of P-51H from Ryan Short. This model is a improve mod of Murph's models P-51H Mustang, with new markings, long tail, correct cockpit, and nice add like doors compartiments... The original scale is 1/48, but I reduce to my usual scale collection...

Comparation with Murph's Models P-51H (early)

Size comparation with 1 real coin (size match 1 euro)

On my USAF fighter collection

I have a few tweaks to make and then it will be released. Pericles did a great job, the instructions need an update and a couple of parts could use minor adjustments!

Pericles or Ryan: Would one of you summarize the improvements to Aaron's P-51H to make it more accurate?

Thank's Ryan for oportunnity of build...

I only build the model, but I know

- Improve canopy (the profile is bit slow the D version)
- Add gear and tailwheel compartiment
- Add a new tail set vertical and horizontal
- Improve panel lines
- Add a rear "dog house" door in belly intake
- Add antennas
- Improve the undercarriage legs
- Reescale the model for 1/48

Aaron made a H (early) version with D tail...

I believe Ryan talk in more details about the mod...

Thank's.

Very nice indeed.
Although the P-51D (or K) remains my favorite mustang.

Horizontal stabilizer got a complete redraw, Vertical stabilizer redraw to higher tail that was implemented on the H model. National insignia dimensions corrected. Canopy was pretty off on the original beta build elsewhere on this site- you can look at the comparison plane "Test" in the pictures above and compare it to P-51H photos to see the area where the canopy meets the windshield. Exhaust has a minor rework, panel lines and stencils added. Oh, and it's all vectorized.

I like the f-82 twin mustang if that counts. It is definitely an oddball.
