F3H-2 Demon 1:48 Build diary
The Demon is one of the most over- looked fighters of it's era.
Not many know that it's the real fahter of the F-4 Phantom... In the mean time some photos of the bird which is rather big plane of about 18 meters or the same as the early models of the Phantom excluding the E model which is 19.2 meters long. The Demon is the 3 rd missing plane if we count the Cutlass and Skyray as 1st and 2nd as they represent a part of naval aviation history which is not fully known as the Vietnam era that arrived a couple of years later. The last Demon squadron was retired in 1964 some months before the Tonkin incident which triggered the start of the Vietnam 8 years conflict. There is a big simillarity between the demon and the Phantom as the nose radome and beaver tail resembles the F-4 Phantom fuselage but with only one engine. Yair |

Hi Gary - the body contours are not easy here. The area of
the air intakes and the bulge below are the one most problematic part of the Demon. I hope it will be fine. Thanks - Yair |

Yair, are you going to make some internal formers to help?

That looks like Pavel's kit from Ecardmodels.com. If it is, feel free to review my build of it a few years ago. It's a beautiful kit.
McDonnell F3H-2 Demon U.S. Navy squadron VF-41 / Pavel Kohno / 1:72 Looking forward to watching your interpretation!

Dear All - yes you are right. The model is from ecards and was with me for a while.
I would like to put it nearby the Cutlass and Skyray as they all represent the same era in the american naval aviation. Thanks - Yair |

F3H-2 Demon build diary continued
Some more photos of the Demon.
The cockpit needs to be added along with the intakes and bulge down which gives the Demon the gupy fish typical look. Yair |
