More DaVinci

I built his helicopter design from a mixed media kit several years ago. The frame is wood and the airscrew is paper. I painted the airscrew in oils using motifs I gleaned from Internet sources. It has suffered some damage over the years because the airscrew is so fragile.

I made the oak base in my shop, and there is a clock motor underneath to rotate the helo.

That is a very impressive model. It really demonstrates your mastery of multiple media. I really like the oil painted airscrew. It brings whole new dimension to the piece. I don't doubt that da Vinci (the quintessential multi media guy), would have decorated his inventions in a similar manner. I was fortunate to make a trip to France about 10 years ago, and made it a point to visit Le Clos Luce Manor (DaVinci's final home and place of death). The whole mansion is a museum (the actual bed that he died in is still there), and they have large scale working models of many of his inventions. Does anyone know if there is a paper model of his airscrew out there?

GlueČ Chronicle has a plain white paper model of the aerial screw. Ain't as purty as the one in this thread.

Thanks for the link, Doug. It's white but I'm sure I could colorize it in Photoshop. It sure won't be as nice as the model pictured in this thread, but it's somewhere to start.
