Exclamation Building start

Lets start with the nose section. First is the nose intake. Frames and the two inner engine intake bifurcation ducts.

Here are the parts

and the framing. As can be seen I used the laser cut frames.

I assembled the aft frame that suports the cockpit.

However, I realized that in order to install the ducts, I must separate the frame.
Dassault Mystere IVa- GPM version-img_0640.jpgNext time, install the two ducts first. The frames really do not need to glue on to each other going aft.

Here are the inlets

added a small wood piece to support the nose splitter.

Here is the splitter. Not the easiest fit.

it looks very nice Isaac, the laser frames looks great and make your work easier.

but i have to say somthing....
they took a simple part (like the air intake) that can be done from 3 pieces max and very simple to build and made it with a lot of parts and very complicated, i will never understand that.

good luck

Yoav

the assembly is overly complicated, I agree. Also, there are many variables to the pieces and fit is tricky.

Exclamation Nose framing-going aft

The inner frame of the nose continues aft and includes the nose gear well and the pilot's cockpit tub.

The gear well is glued, but the tub frame is separated and will be installed with the cockpit and the external skinning of the forward fuselage a a later time.

The rest of the fuselage frames assembled. Do not glue to each other as you can not assemble to the plane at this stage. Those most likely need triming and cutting anyway.

Lastly, add nose weight to the frame as shown to make sure the model is not a tail seater.

Cool Nose section

OK, now lets assemble the outer skin of the plane. Really it is a round fuselage all the way thru. So all you have are simple conical sections

The fit is great.

At this point do not install the inner frames yet.

More in a couple of weeks when I return. Off to warmer places ( working ).

You're off to a good start, Isaac. It seems like GPM has a habit of making internal structures complicated. Well, on the other hand that makes it interesting to follow. Like reading a good book, the plot shouldn't be too easy to figure out.

Good luck with your job in warmer places.

Erik
