Tanski hang-glider "LOTNIA"
Hello everyone,
After a long break I want to show designed by me model of Tanski glider in 1 : 33 scale. Czesław Tanski (1861-1942) was a Pole, painter by profession and he was an aviation pioneer from the closing years of the 19th centry. In the summer of 1896 from the platform has made several jumps. The longest more of 30 meters (about 33 yards). It was his third design. His hang-glider had a name "LOTNIA". Body of model is made of bamboo sticks covered with silk. Wing span - 33 cm, lenght - 14,5 cm. Regards, Richard |

A Subject Unknown
Hi Richard,
Nicely executed model - reminds me of a montage in a museum explaining the pioneering individual. Split bamboo is a very useful modeling material. Strangely enough I was splitting a couple of dozen bamboo "sticks" tonight followed by passing them through a draw plate to achieve the correct width. -Gil |
