1:32 Northrop F-5A "Freedom Fighter"
Hi all!
I've started this model that I downloaded a long time ago. When I got it was free-to-download after registering to the site, but now I've made some search but I can't find the source, the only links I find seems to be some russian pirates sites, so I can't really give any info about it. As stated in my introduction thread, this is the third model ever, is the first to be a little more complicated and is mainly ground for learning. These are the first three nose sections, each section is basically a cylinder: two discs that give shape and strenght, and the paper wrapped around in the middle. There are a lot of errors and misalignment, I hope to get better and better... plus, I did the nose landing gear bay and now I'm scratch-building some details to be put into it. See you soon! |

Great start Davide. Did you print it on silver paper?

No, simple white print paper somewhere between 120 and 160 gr/m2. |

Update:
After many trials, I managed to build some details... This is just a dry-fit but I'm not totally satisfied: the pipes are too big, the brush strokes are too accentuated and there is a slight variation in colour from one pipe to the others. The latter because, using children's poster paint, I mixed black and white to have grey, but I used too little so I had to mix them again with an obvious different shade for the last pipe. Though being not satisfied with the outcome, I'm still ok with it: I'm a beginner, and makes no sense to me to try to overdo those pipes... I think I still have learned some lessons, so I'll let the process "sink in", therefore I'm moving on adding other details in the landing gear bay . Space is tight so I'll step down a little from what I thought I would have been doing and I'll keep it simpler. Stay tuned! |

A lot of added details for a wheel well. Keep up the good work.

Keep on it! It seems to be a very good kit, so take your time.

Thank you guys!
Today our servers went on maintanance mode a couple times, so I had some extra time. Here is a dry fit of some little updates with scratch-built details I'm adding, inspired by a photograph of the real wheel bay.

Slower than ever! I'm probably finished adding details in the bay (perhaps just another pipe), then I'll paint it and that's it.

For a place that few people will see that's a very impressive amount of detail. I only hope that the rest of the plane is as detailed. And that you don't burn out from doing it.
