Mystere IIC - service with the French air force

By the time the Mystere IIC entered service the Mystere IV was already in advanced development stages and entered service a year later in 1955.
So, there was a situation that the IIC that just entered service become an
obsolete design at a fraction of time. The Mystere IV was a better machine with higher speed , better flight and handling characteristics with the centrifugal Verdun engine that gave it some 1100 lb more thrust. The Mystere IV could break the sound barrier in a shallow dive of 4 degrees while the II had to go steep. Also the IV had power controls while the II had mechanic ones. The Mystere IV wings had a swept angel of 38 degrees vs only 30 degrees with the Mystere II.
The last Mystere IIC was delivered in 1957, by which time the type was already being relegated to advanced training duties. The Mystere IIC was very much an interim type, though it did persist in the training role until 1963. There were no foreign buyers of the Mystere IIC. The type never fired a shut in anger as it didn't participate in any kind of war in contrary to the IV which saw war activity in Israel and India.
In perspective the Israeli air force did the right decision not to buy it and to opt for the better Mystere IV as the history proved in two wars -
the Kadesh operation and the six day war.
Total air kills of the Mystere IV - 3 MIG 15 , 4 MIG 17 , 1 HUNTER and 3 vampires that bombed Israeli ground forces in Kadesh operation in October 1956.

mystere IIC - build diary continued

The intake splitter was put in place and there is strong resemblance to the mystere IV that starring very often lately in the forum. The ejection seat is simple and the cockpit is almost
done. The telemeter antenna is not glossy as in the mystere IV and I will need to scrach build
this part as it is not looking convincing in this original paper kit.

Hi YOAV - this is a model from Ecard models and we buy it online as a PDF. Then I usually reduced
it to 1:48 scale. The original color was not as silver as mine because I choosed a different paper
type. The firm is the same firm of Issac SU-7 and it seems like they are not into heavy detaling
but the external lines seems to be OK and this is the most important thing - for me at least.

Thanks and have a nice Shabbat.

mystere IIC - build diary continued

The mystere II wings sub frame mounting is important because the type has relatively long span - so here are the
photos.

Thanks Gary

Thanks elliott - you are always welcome!
Attached are more photos. I always use circular objects for the front air intake and jet nozzle to make them look more precisely round. The next step is the mounting of the wings and main wheels compartments.

Question

Yair

Are you sure that the wing center spars are strong enough? Looks kind of weak.

Probably OK in 1.48 scale.

I usually make those out of wood sticks ( like from coffee shop ), or add round dowels for additional support.

Isaac

Dear Isaac - they are strong enough cause I glued them with super glue over night so I hope it will be fine. Anyway I am going to check the wings fitment "dry" as always before glueing them to the body.

Regards - Yair
