The first post seems to have nothing about the source of the model. The facebook page doesn't work and I don't do facebook anyway.
So, does anyone here know where to find the model?

No joy here either. You sure it was from Ecardmodels Les?

I've had the model for awhile, so maybe I'm wrong. I can't find it at Ecardmodels, either.
Aaron had an arrangement with Fiddlers Green (fiddlersgreen.net) for awhile, so maybe that's where it is. I can't get that site to load for some reason. Lemme know what you find out. Les (The Voice of Authority -- VoiceofAuthority.net - The Voice Stylings of Les Dorr, Jr.) |

I did a thorough search of the internet, and it seems the Airway Beacon has disappeared from Ecardmodels, Fiddlersgreen, and my site. So, I made it reappear:

Thanks for that. Bought and downloaded. I will need to enlarge it a bit, but towers don't really have scale like people or cars.

Many thanks for resuscitating it, Aaron. One our forum members, Ann McCombs shared a wonderful story about these at an IPMC meeting. It is really her story to tell, but I thought it was irresistable. It seems the light aerial beacons are still in use along some of the mountain passes in Idaho and Utah. The states continued to maintain them, after the FAA dropped the system. Real line-of-sight direction finding is more useful than radio beacons, which would not indicate that there was a mountain in the way. Ann told us she was able to fulfill a long held dream and actually fly a light beacon route recently, on her way to a high school reunion.

I got so excited about trying to find the kit/plans for the tower that I forgot to compliment your model Les. Sorry... that is a VERY nice looking build. I'm hoping to put a light in mine and make it rotate. I hope it turns out as nice looking as yours.

There are a few fun navigational aids around here. For instance, if you're ever in the East Valley, and can't find your way back to Phoenix, there's this helpful aid: |
