Very nice work. Not easy to achieve alignment of the balloon segments.

A historic model!

more

every model, no matter how simple, has its challenges

in this case, i had to figure out a way to deal with a ballon that gets so small
at the bottom you can't get your fingers in
against my normal practice, of gluing each section at a time
i ended up gluing part of each section all round, then the next part

it worked, more or less

bamboo ropes

the model comes with strips of paper for ropes

so i made my "ropes" from bamboo, and cut little hole in the ballon
i bent the end just a bit, and glued them in
they look good, but are pretty hard to handle
trying to glue them into the blue ring didn't work at all

so i made a thicker ring

or rather, a ring with an inner liner
then i was able to slip the bamboo ropes between the blue outer ring and the cardboard
which made it easier to "adjust" the ring to be centered and sit more or less square
the shorter "ropes" from the ring to the basket where glued on and held straight until they stiffened up
the basket has 2 observers

Very nice. The bamboo strips worked out well for the shrouds.

The balloon looks like a very challenging shape to assemble, but you handled it quite well. Very nice work on an interesting subject! Thanks for sharing the photos!
