1/72 Douglas DC-9-32 Garuda Indonesia
Hello gentlemen!
Been quite a while since the last time i'm here, vacation gets in the way. How's everyone doing? i hope everyone is well this year Nothing new here, my last build from 2015, repaint of Sumato's DC-9 i did for my mother's birthday present, she's a retired GIA aircrew and i decided to build one of the old livery for her This is the real deal: And the model: Pretty hasty work but i think it came out quite nicely, still have to build he landing gears though

It looks terrific, Raja!
Nice gift for your Mother. I'll bet she had an interesting life and has some stories to tell. I suppose she was too young to have served in this aircraft? Raja,
This is such a nice tribute. . . to your mom and dc-9. One of the best t-tail twin jets ever. would love to see a thread of every conceivable Sumato repaint dc-9 known. I have his EAL model . . . Am hopeful he will include an Ozark dc-9 series 30 in his line-up sometime (hint, hint). best regards, cbg

Very nice work Raja! You have done an especially nice job on getting the seams nice and flush, not an easy thing to do! Did you use connecting strips to get them that smooth?

Thanks very much gents!
Don, yes, that is way too old for her, but even then Seulawah was not strictly the first, RI-002 came much earlier. It was not bought by indonesians though, it was donated and flown by USN veteran and volunteer Bob Freeberg and thus didn't use RI-001 registration You can read his story here: An American Who Died Fighting for Indonesia's Freedom | History | Smithsonian Gary, as long as i keep the mess to myself, quite yes Cbg, She didn't actually flew on DC-9 though, but i remember she flew with Fokker F28, which i'll gladly pay for a nice 1/72 model Curt, yes, i use connecing strips, and i did made three try for the fuselage to ensure everything nice and straight

El Al?
@Herky,
think i confused you with my shorthand for Eastern Air Lines (EAL). Dunno if El Al ever flew dc-9. . .anyone here know? Have seen profile illustrations of El Al Asia jets from late 70s? And yes, Finnair would be nice, along with Allegheny, Southern, Delta, etc. . . cbg
