Great work on the fuselage and empennage, Boats. You're a smooth operator and you are really making this old kit shine!

I'm following your project with interest, since I have an irrational fascination for old Maly models myself. That thing is gonna be huge (and, yes, I've seen Don's completed model).

It's looking good. I think I'd rather try building my Contrails vacuform kit though.

Wing construction

Ahoy
As the fuselage at a side now its time for the wings on the pictures below show the wing spars and ribs as given in the kit NOTE Anyone who has this kit beware there is no center butt spar 1X you have to make one the dimentions on the instruction sheet will show you how to construct the center spar that passes through the fuselage and its glued to the front inboard spars on the inboard wing panels. Not certain why they done that I guess they ran out of room on the kit. The wings thus far I had no trouble in the assembly I am very relieved of that. Today I will have the wings assembled to the fuselage assembly. Next the two engine nacelles will be constructed.

Good work on the wings and the spar fabrication, Boats!

I noticed when I built the kit that the camouflage pattern on the starboard engine nacelle did not match up with the pattern on the wing.

Thanks Don I probably will run in to the same problem thus far we both ran in o the same problems you just got to work around it some how when it comes to misalignment matchups the only two ways you can go around this problem either mix some paint to match the color or live with it I have no problem mixing the color on this kit I made up two bottles of paint for this kit and it matches very well. Stay tune buddy for the entire wing assembly I should have it done today.

It is all fun. The good and the bad. Just enjoy it all and come up with fixes to these old kits.

Interesting aircraft. Sort of all function with whatever form is needed.

Love it

Isaac

The Imperil War Museum in London has (or had 30 years ago) the front of a Hampden fuselage, and visitors were allowed to sit in the pilot's seat. I did so, and found that the Hampden was a VERY narrow airplane. If the pilot were to have been hit, do not think another member of the crew could have taken over the controls.
