Hi Erik,
Thanks for the tips. Yes, I see that a lot of extra care is needed! Not surprising…
Regarding the Kfir, it is sooo old (built in 1981 or 1982) that I don't dare to take a close-up picture. But you can spot it in this picture, taken in 2007

Looking good Eric !
Concerning the small gap : You won't see it after installing the canopy

Fuselage time

Hi guys,

Back again and thank you for your continued interest in this project. Ricardo, that's a beautiful showcase you have there! I wish I had such a collection.

Yoav/Isaac: A question regarding the Phantom. I noticed on this site that Yoav's Phantom is indicated with scale 1:32, whereas Isaac, you have built this model, you mention 1:30 in your previous post. Yoav's regular scale is 1:30 so, I'm a bit confused??

Well, took a few hours off Friday afternoon and without much problems I assembled the exhaust and even the entire fuselage. In the pictures of the exhaust section you can still see the "assisting discs" which have proven to be very useful. I followed the instructions, especially with respect to inserting thin cardboard - cereal box quality - to the bottom where the wings will be attached. It gives the entire fuselage a firm grip. I love it.

Today I finished the details of the cockpit, and decided not to replace the nose cone after all. I've been using Bison construction kit to fill up the small gap at the cone bottom and it will be alright.

Now this part of the model is finished I touched up the colored edges with varnish, applied by brush. As Ricardo mentioned, somehow the ink of home printed kits is very vulnerable and I have had to touch up with paint and felt marker here and there already, as you can see at the cockpit area (brown camouflage color). It's better to use paint (Revell, Tamiya or the like) rather than water based felt markers. Only thing left to do in the cockpit is to apply a bit of glossy clear to the panel instruments and then it's entirely done.

It's still early in the game but the instructions say it's canopy time. I have decided to build a small vacuum box to try this technique for the very first time. Keep my fingers crossed! Till next time .

Erik

as usual....great work Erik.

about my models scale......all of them including the F-4E are 1:30 scale.

my first big scale model i designed was the F-4E tail no' 316.
at the beginning i thought my F-4E is 1:32, but after i measured it i found that he is 1:30.
and because all my models designed and re-designed in accordance with the F-4E, all of them is also 1:30.......and since then i design my models at 1:30 scale.

keep on the good working

YOAV

As Yoav delineated, all of his models are in 1/30 scale ( this was not intentional ). I thought that they were in 1/32 scale initially and so did he. Yoav decided to continue his designs in 1/30 scale.

Since you are getting the files in .jpeg format, you have the option to scale them to 1/33 scale so they fit the rest of your models or stay as is with his scale.

Since I already built his Phantom with great detail, I may elect to stay at 1/30 scale for his designs. Regardless of the scale, my suggestion is to print everything at the same time and at the same scale so you don't get some fit issues during the build.

Have fun

Isaac

Hello Erik,
Apart from your build quality, the close-up pictures (particularly numbers 2 and 10) show very nice color effects. Good work, indeed!

Hi guys,

Thanks for your valued feedback. Good advice regarding printing and yes, I have a spare copy for in case. Ricardo, the color effects are entirely Yoav's! For me the challenge is to build "as seamless as possible".

Regards,
Erik
