Paper Warbirds Sikorski S16 1:33
Received from the fella that operates Wings of Horus for free because of a delayed order, and all I can say is just like the rest of the kits, wow! If you are into WW1 AC, then you must give this site a look, www.paperwarbirds.com. So here goes the build and just like all begin with a humble start. I have from the start modified the engine by using the crankcase from Brainstrom Art Studios to correct for the number of cyclinders for a up-engined bird and to replace some missing items, I am however using parts from both sources for the engine. Crankcase is 1cm before adding the cylinders, which ea one will be made up of 7 peices per x9.

Looks like a great site. I am going to try one of their free downloads (if I ever get time) and think about that nice Dutch bomber they have!

The current free download at Paper Warbirds is the 1/72 Sopwith Camel. It's OK and has very comprehensive instructions that also serve as a good intro to paper modelling but trust me please when I say that the quality of the demo is nowhere near as good as the new models like the Murometz...I'm also tempted by the big Fokker as well and would love to hear your thoughts when you get it...

Does anybody have the WOH Fokker DR1 - and specifically perhaps the Orlik model of the same for comparison? Just curious how they compare in detail / graphic quality / etc. ?
(And sorry for the hijack, I seem to do that a lot, don't I...).

I have looked at the build notes for this bird on the Paper Warbirds site and must say it is a very detailed bird and what I think is cool, additional skins are available to build the bird you want and not the always red one! I have not purchased this one but, I did the Pfalz DR1 and there is no compairing, this is where I believe the next phase of the hobby will go. Again I can only say, go to the web site and register and look at the wonderful kits he has available. Oh yea, the Fokker bomber is way neat and on my list. Besides, the owner is super nice and cares that you are a happy customer. PS: rolling engine cylinders, took a break to go thru our great community that welcomed many friends from another site today, hope you feel welcomed with this group of mis-fits that includes me as well.:DRick

Excellent review, Rick. WOH produce some very pretty birds.
A great model just has to come out of that ship-shape work space of yours! Don Last edited by Don Boose; 06-15-2009 at 04:56 AM. Reason: Caps lock trim probs |

Thanks boosed, will post crank case w/cylinders tomorrow I hope, the little buggers are tough to roll, line up and glue. The cylinder is composed of the mount, bottom end, lower and upper cooling fins, head cap, all that for just the cylinders x9!:DRick
