You know,I never noticed Tiger Moth doesn't have ailerons on upper wings?I just looked up pictures...
I wonder if I can share my attempt on 1/72 scale.I shrunk down old 1/33 Mata made model of Hawk 75 and my brother did recolor. In background there is B/W trial version as I wasn't sure if that model is even build able in that scale.Click for larger picture. |

They look wonderfull, Butelczynski. It's just a shame that the colors are fading. But very good assembly. I read somewhere that you can use hair spray to fix the color, anybody has done it?
That's another reason why I use paint. I went curious about the name, so I'm including a real Tigermoth. It fits. This saturday I had to stay programming, so no assembly. I hope to start with the Tigermoth wiring tomorrow. Meanwhile I started another long-time proyect of mine, to convert some of the planes I made for Flight Simulator 2004 / FSX into 1/72 paper models. I'm including some wallpapers of the Historic Jetlinners Group site, where you can download and fly many 727, DC-8, DC-9 and MD-80 and -90s made by myself. My idea is to make a white model of the 727-200 at 1/72 scale (64.85 cm long and 45.72 cm width!!!!) and use the Flight Simulator texture to achieve a very realistic finish. You can see in the atachements the metalic texture of wings and engines. But as I said, it's just one of my projects, that can be made this year or in ten.

Ok, my experiment about printing over silver paint worked fine, but I made the test with two printers and the sizes were different. Frak!
The Tigermoth is advancing. I erased/painted the upper ailerons, and placed the rods under the lower wing/"real" ones. I started to glue the cables under the fuel tank. The plane doesn't have the usual crisscrossed cables between the wings, instead it has something similar to two "V" shapes of cables. I'll put pictures to explain better, but it's a detail you must see when making this model. And, you can see the difference in size between the Tigermoth and the Boeing 727 (and I printed the airliner wings too small!)

And the Tigermoth is finished. You can see the engine exhaust (it varies depending of the engine's model), the wires between the planes and to the tail and the rolling (thanks God) propeller.
I'll give more details when I'm not in a hurry.

Undercarriage looks solid and rigging is tight. Did you use line or wire for the rigging Alejandro?

Hi, Elliot. The undercarriage is reinforced with electrical wire and stem of grass.
The rigging was made with sewing thread, embedded with silver paint and glue and let dry hanging from a hook and a weight below. When you release the tread, it stays straight by itself.

And after a long holyday I started my Black Knights J-35F Draken.
I'm planning to reinforce a lot of the pieces with cardboard. So far, I've made the exaust and the part of the fuselage where the front wheel will go. Unless my Fw-190A, this one will have the landing gear down. You can see the acetate for the cockpit too.

Ok, I took some minutes free to finish this section. As you see, I reinforced the front wheel pit with cardboard and made a circular reinforcement for where the radar would be.
As much as I would liked to do a transparent cockpit, without the plastic glue that I use for acetate, and that isn't being imported to Venezuela anymore, it will be imposible. So, I'll use the printed one.
