My 1/72 Scale Planes

Usually I build ships at 1/700 scale, but recently I tryed some aircraft paper models resized at 1/72 scale to fit with my plastic ones.

So far, I have a Dr1 Dreideker and a Sopwith Camel in process. The Dr1 has, and the Camel will have, all the wirings included and the propeller will spin.

Of course, a turning propeller is wrong, because both planes had rotative ENGINES. The propeller was fixed to the engine. But, at this scale... my propeller will spin, thanks.

By the way, I'm not against using wood, wire, plastic or any other material that will improve the presence of the model. The camel's engine, for example, has wire.

Nice little WW1 fighters - if you want to try some more there are 1/72 aircraft for download at Landships II - Landships II.
Wayne McCullough took a break from his usual armour models and designed a Halberstadt CL II, Junkers J.1 and a Short 184 floatplane. There's also a Zeppelin model by Thorstein Brand if you feel like a real challenge.

Regards,

Charlie

Thanks, Charlie, I downloaded and added them to my wait list.

By now, the Sopwith Camel is structurally finished (except the weels) and just remains A LOT of wires crisscrossing the wings, undercarriage, rudder and elevators

C'mon! it just needed an anchor to complete the drag!

Well, hopefully it will be finished tomorrow

Sorry, couldn't finish it. Next weekend I'll do the tail wire assembly and the ailerons wires.

Meanwhile, the Camel and the Dreideker are side to side.

A quick update.

The Camel is finished, all the wires and supports placed. Here, with the Dreideker.

Now thinking about a Spad 13

Thanks, Gene!
Both planes were made by F.Prudenziati. I understand Mr Prudenziati passed away, maybe someone knows better?

Wow! Thanks!

I already included the Tiger Moth at the top of my "To do" list!

Meanwhile, the Spad 13 is started, both wings are made, the tail and elevons and the rear fuselage. No pictures yet, sorry.

I'm including a internal reinforcement in tail and elevons, and a curved "sandwitch" of cardboard into the wings to give then width, streng and curvature.

Also, the Fidlers Green model that I'm using as a guide has just one side of the propeler and landing gear. I'll include both surfaces of the propeler (with more paper and paint), and replace landing gear and wing struts with wood (sanded grass stems or toothpick).

The weels will be widened too with a ring of paper.
