Seeking UH-1D (UH-1H) Model (13th Aviation Battalion slick)

I the am looking for a kit of the UH-1D (UH-1H) Iroquis (Huey) transport helicopter (slick) in or easily rescaled to 1/48 in the markings (or available to be recolored in the markings) of the 114th Assault Helicopter Company (Knights), 121st Assault Helicopter Company (Tigers), or the 175th Assault Helicopter Company (Outlaws) of the 13th Aviation Battalion (Delta Aviation) as they appeared in 1966-1967.

The Fiddlersgreen Huey is a UH-1D, or at least that's what I designed it as.

Thanks, Murph. I'm trying to build models of aircraft that supported my unit in Vietnam. I have your model of the A1 in RVNAF markings of the 23rd Tactical Wing at Bien Hoa. Your Caribou is in 61st Aviation Company markings, but it would seem to be an easy recolor to change the tail markings to a 134th Aviation Company bird. The other most relevant aircraft would be 13th Aviation Battalion Hueys, a Navy Seawolf Huey gunship, and a 221st Recon Airplane Company (Shotguns) O-1.

O-1 is on the list, I just need motivation to tackle it.

Well, if you get motivated, and unless you have a higher priority, I'd sure be pleased if the model was in the markings of one of the 221st Birddogs (Home - 221st Aviation Company).

Yellow tail numbers, white "ARMY" on the fuselage, and Willy Pete rocket launchers under the wing. Some aircraft had a red and white delta on the tail and at least one of them had a small black Kangaroo on the nose(http://www.catkillers.org/catimage/R72854.jpg). It is possible that the kangaroo was a reference to the fact that the Shotguns worked in tandem with RAAF O-1s of the 19th TASS. Our personal Aussie FAC at Vinh Binh was Squadron Leader Rex Ramsey (ASCOT Nine). RAAF FAC History by Pete Smith I'm drawing a blank on the name and call sign number of our Shotgun pilot just now.

More later,

Don

Don,

I could do a re-paint of Nobi's UH-1D for you. If you would let know the specifics of the aircraft you're looking for, I don't mind doing it for you.

I think you have my e-mail, if not just PM me and I send you my e-mail.

Thanks,
Gary

Thanks, Gary. Message with info on Outlaw transport helicopter platoon of the 175th Assault Helicopter Company, 13th Aviation Battalion is on the way.

My log doesn't show which unit lifted us on each operation, but my 50 year old memory tells me we rode aboard Outlaw slicks more than we did with the Knights or the Tigers and that the Mavericks provided us with gunship support most of the time.
