Israelian Mirage 3 vs Russian Mig 21

After the defetat of the Egyptian airforce in 1967 six day war in which more than 300 planes were destroyed in less than 3 glorious hours by the IAF . The Egyptian airforce slowly started to recover. The Russians send new versions of the Mig 21 and by middle 1968 the Egyptians had the same power as before.
However , despite all of this in the dogfights that took place after the 6 day war the IAF was always the winner. The Russians blamed the EAF pilots by saying that they don't operate the Mig 21 correctly to the max and the EAF pilots answer was - the Mirage is a better plane. In early 1970 the IAF started to use the F-4E Phantom that just arrived into the battle . The Phantoms were used for strikes deep in Egypt and the EAF was unable to stop it.The Egyptians leaders went to Russia and after alot of pleaadings the Russians send a Russian force of Mig 21 from the latest model with Russian Pilots for the defence of deep Egypt. The Russian pilots tried to avoid getting into dogfighs with the IAF. Then the IAF commanders decided to put a bait.
Instead of Phantoms a bait of Skyhawks was sent. The radar network identified the slow flying Skyhawks and Russian M1ig 21 were scrambled toward them. What the Russians pilots didn't know at the time was that nearby from below Mirages and Phantoms were ambooshing the incoming Mig's. The Skyhawks started to fly back for escaping while the Mirages and Phantoms
entered a big dogfight with the Migs. In less than 5 minutes 5 Migs were downed - 3 by Mirages and 2 by Phantoms. This was a big defeat for the Russians. In a very short time the Russian air marshall came to Egypt to investigate what happened. In the EAF the pilots that were often blamed for not being good enough by the Russians were very pleased !
Attached are images of the Mig 21 and Mirage side by side both in 1:48 scale. This particular Mirage model is from the Israelian airforce magazine from 1965.

Great job and I like that you show the size comparison of contemporary fighters. Also impressed that you design your own cockpits (for the IAF/Wilhelmshavener) models.

Mig 21 f13 Fishbed vs F-8E Crusader - Vietnam 1966 -1968

The Crusader and Fishbed first dogfight in Vietnam took place toward the end of 1966.
The Crusader total kills were 18 - 15 Mig 17 and 3 Mig 21.Therefore it earned the names
Mig master and Mig slayer. The kill ratio of the Crusader was 6:1 compared to the Phantom 2:1 !
The Crusader was also called the "last gunfighter " because it carried 4x 20mm guns but almost all kills were done by sidewinders.
The two planes were very close in terms of performance but rhe Crusader had the better air to air missiles which were superior to the atoll Russian copy.
Attached are images of both types in 1:48 scale. The Crusader is from hobbymodel and the Mig is from Ecards.

Mig 21 vs F-104 - two hotrods

The two fighters entered service at the same period (1958- 1959 ). However as the mig 21 became the mainstay fighter of USSR the F-104 wasn't popular with the USAF. The first version of the mig - the f13 was widely exported to many alied nations while the 104 wone the Europeian contract for multipurpose fighter capable of mach 2 .0 . In 1965 during the Indo-Pakistan conflict the 2 saw some limited dogfights
and it appears that Indian mig 21's had better results by shooting down 2 F-104.
In Vietnam the mig 21 started to appear in late 1966 and was a treat to the main American fighters f-105 Thud and f-4 Phantom. The F-104 was deployed to Vietnam at the same period but didn't score any victories. At the same time the German airforce had many accidents with the F-104
and earned the name "vidow maker".
As the time pass history proved that the mig 21 was a much better plane.
In terms of performance they are more or less simillar with higher speed of mach 2.2
to the F-104 and better manuverability for the mig 21. As no F-104 in service today plenty of mig 21 are still used today by many air forces.
Two models of mig 21 of GPM vs F-104 of Wilhelmshavener models both in 1:48 scale are posing side by side.
