Repaint of Nobi's SBD Dauntless VS-37 by John Bowden

This is a re-color of Nobi's SBD-5 done by John Bowden. It's for an SBD of VS-37 assigned to the Atlantic Fleet in February 1944. It was tasked with anti-submarine warfare (ASW) duties.

The model went together very nicely without any real issues at all. I expect that will also apply to Nobi's original model. While the model is not especially detailed for 1/48 scale it does capture the lines of the SBD quite well.

Hope you like it. As for me I'm just happy to finally have finished a model after a very long period of started, but not completed efforts.

John has not as yet released this model but probably will do so sometime soon.

Curt

Thanks Don and John! John, please use the pics for the ecardmodels listing. That way I feel better about not yet starting on the other SBD.

Especially nice work on the antenna. White glue droplets for insulators? What kind of wire/thread/stretched sprue did you use for the wires, Curt?

Nobi and RPS Don,Thanks!

Don B., I'm actually not that happy with the radio mast and antenna wires. I had some glue staining on the mast and the wire coming down into the fuselage is kind of wonky. I used CA glue for the most part to attach some 6/0 fly tying thread to a floral wire post on top of the rudder and to the radio mast. I wrapped some thread around a small floral wire post and embedded it into the fuse for the down wire. Then I just took a few turns around the upper wire to simulate an insulator/connector. The only white glue used was for sealing the opening in fuselage for the downward wire.
