14 cylinders is certainly repetitive. I could see no evidence of wrinkling or delamination. How did you deal with the problems?

I love the color scheme on this kit.

I ran into the same delaminating problem early on when I started building the engine first. I solved the problem by scanning the kit and printing it on better cardstock.

@ Don / Elliot - on the cylinders, the parts are thin enough to be rolled uniformly. So, the wrinkles are less susceptible to appear. The thinner parts did tend to delaminate at the extremities. A bit of glue solved the problem. It would be worse if they “choose” to delaminate completely…
@ Sakrison – Well, that’s a radical solution! Unfortunately, my “print at home” experience is not good. Thanks to Don, I had already seen your lovely model. The fuselage shinning is still there. So, I guess that you didn’t reprint the whole kit…

The upper sections of the cylinders have two parts. I added a tab and a bit of card to help fix the top part.

Looking very good already Ricardo. Did you fill up the cylinders to provide a good round shape, or is the filler paper part of the model's design? I usually round them on a small dowel and apply a tightly rolled tube of paper to keep the cylinder into shape after gluing.
I must say I didn't have problems with delaminating of the paper when building Kartonowa's F104G, but running a bit of white glue along the edges always helps, also on fold lines!

@ Erik - The rolled paper bits inside the cylinders are not part of the kit. As the paper rolls are very easy to make, I often use them. A first try serves to check the paper strip lenght and the others can be made on autopilot.
Well, I don't know if Kartonowa changed the paper quality, as the F-104 kit is more recent. If they did, that's a big "plus". The white paint I use is rather thick. I wouldn't be able to put it on cut and fold edges and keep it invisible, as you manage to do. The blame may be on the modeler, too

The engine is complete. The cockpit will be next.
