Thanks, everybody...and Isaac! I SO agree with you. As this is my second card model (well, 1.5 since my PZL isn't quite done yet) my plan is to build another and step it up a notch. This thing is so big and cries out for super detailing. I will do it!
As for tonight, I got the T-tail on but haven't done all the fairings yet nor the fillets on the wing. I also did the left nacelle and spinner which was quite difficult for me but I think it turned out pretty well. I know what I'll try on the right one to see if I can get some of the straight line geometry diminished. Still...it's a looker! Really think it looks sweet with the engines in place and I like the clean lines. With all the 1/32nd and 1/24th stuff in plastic coming out lately, this would be a superb machine and I'm surprised nothing exists. Oh well...it makes this card model EVEN COOLER. More tomorrow, Dan |

The nacelle attachment looks perfect! I find attaching nacelles to wings to be very difficult and admire your very smooth and precise work.

Thanks, everyone. I agree with Don that nacelles can be a real pain even in plastic. Making the actual nacelle on the Whirlwind was difficult for me with little skill in making paper do all sorts of little things, but the attachment to the wing...which I anticipated would be horrific...was a drop fit.
Not sure why??!! Could it be skillful designing or just incredible cutting my me? But not asking too many questions. Lovely... Dan |

I'd say it is probably a combination of both design and your increasing skill and confidence in your ability. It looks great!

Definitely go out and get this model. It's a really nice beginner kit that makes you look better than you are. My next one will have separate control surfaces, more interior etc. but for a fun build into an impressive model, this one is hard to beat!
I got the nacelles on and tried to make one spinner with thinner paper and also thinner tabs so they didn't show through the paper as much or at all. I partially succeeded but, especially with thin tabs, it takes more care to get things lined up and glued. Now I'll start on the fillets, the fin/stab front and rear bulb, the props and stacks. I'll leave the canopy for last but this is going together very, very well. Of course, I'm cheating by not adding landing gear, but I'm also using this model as a test for techniques and didn't want it to somehow get stuck and shelved. Besides...I'm putting gear on my PZL! Thanks for looking and happy Sunday, Dan |

All,
So close now...I got the wing fillets on, started the canopy (I'll vacuform the rear portion), exhausts placed and the fin bulbs added. Only a few parts left! I think the last painful thing may be the cannons...we'll see how they go. Thanks for looking! Dan |

You are making fantastic model!
Correct me if I am wrong. But Is this your 2nd model? If so I wish my models could look like yours. |
