Greenghost,

As you can see from this discussion, there are no set rules for paper modeling. And you will find conflicting interpretations. Most times there is no concrete right answer; you have to pick the interpretation that works best for you. Last night before the site went bonkers, I was attempting to give you my alternative to doing folds and scribes. Every modeler has his own way of doing things. Some are built around advice from other modelers and some are learned the hard way.

Here is my way of handling scribes. For scribing, I use a small metal rule, a 90 degee angle flat nosed tweezers and long pointed nose soldering tweezers. (was going to add photos, but for some reason, the site will not accept my photos)
Putting my finger in between the tweezer tongs, lightly clamps the tweezers to my finger and I use the back of the point to scribe the line. Light pressure for some scribes; harder pressure for others. For straight lines the metal rules works best for me, as a guide. On lines where I am scribing for detail effect, I find the flat inner surface of the tweezers clamped to my finger, gives me better control. I use the flat head tweezers to break the scribe line or fold, and then finish the fold with my finger tips. This routine works for me, but might not work for others. Trial and error ends up being the deciding factor for whatever method you choose. End of ramble; sorry about my being a motor mouth.

I do scores a little bit differently. I get better results by always scoring the side that will be convex when folded. That is, I score the printed side for mountain folds, and the reverse for valley folds (viewed from the printed side). My scoring tool of choice is a very large sewing needle, and for scores on the unprinted side I make a couple of pinpricks to mark the line. Everyone has their own technique, no one way is the one and only.

Hello guys,

Thank you all for your comments. I guess this weekend will be busy folding the tabs.

Wow, those look great. Nice and flat -- that is, no twists, wash-in or wash-out. The ribs look like they came out well too with the scoring.
