Emil Zarkov's Avia B135 1/33
This is a free kit I picked up somewhere a couple years ago that I finally got around to building. It is pretty straight forward and all parts fit nicely. Still have to work on my technique a little. It had a few design elements that I hadn't done before and will probably attempt differently if I build a like model again. The obvious bad parts are the machine gun channels in front of the cockpit, and I shouldn't have made the formers fit so snugly. I also need to learn how to glue a canopy on, lol.

She looks great. You did a very nice job. A cool looking aircraft.

Nice build!
A little correction though, this is not a free kit. You probably picked it up from somewhere it wasn't supposed to be uploaded. Not your fault of course. I'm glad you enjoyed the kit, my father will be happy to hear it! Regards

Nicely built
Always good to see these lesser types being built. I think Kartonist used to have a free copy for download. Tim |

Hi all,
I also have this kit and acquired it as a free download from the Modelart site. It used to be one of the freebies from about 6 years ago. On the front cover of mine it says 'free model kit'. Nice build by the way. I attempted this when I first got it but had to give up as my skills weren't up to it at the time. Must revisit this one. All the best and happy modelling Bernie |

Nice work! All the lightweight fighters of this period were good-looking airplanes.

Thanks for the comments guys, I like the look of the plane. The air intake and short canopy gives it a really pugnacious look. The little blurb on the cover says it was normally used as an advanced trainer.

Beard - According to the Wiki article (and I have not delved deeper), while the B135s were used for training, some were used in the operational fighter role and credited with downing one U.S. B-24 bomber: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avia_B-135
To my eye, there is a similarity between the B135 and the French Caudron C.714, Italian Ambrosini SAI.207 and SAI.403 Dardo, Czech Zlín XIII, and the Latvian VEF I-16 light weight fighters of that era (Tucker XP-57 and Bell XP-77, not so much). As for your model, I would be delighted to have one of mine turn out as well as yours did. Don |
