Cool Mig-9 Papermodeling in 1/33 scale

My next project.

Finally I finished my detailed Suchoi Su-7 BKL Suchoi-7BKL Polish AF. Hobby Model 1/33 scale

That was a long time in the making due to my move.

So I was looking thru my stash of 30+ printed kits of which I want to build most of them because I have the laser frames, canopies and wheels.

But decided finally on the Mig-9 from a company called Papermodeling

I had the kit for a few years now, but was hesitant due to the heavy use of framing and my concern of making it all fit.

As a side note, I wanted to build some more of Yoav's excellent kits of IAF aircraft ( I did build his F-4E,F-4E; Yoav Hozmi model ) , but I have to finish the many kits I have on hand first

Anyhow, here is the kit

and the laser cut frames from GPM

I wish there was a pre formed vacuformed canopy available, but there is non commercially available.

There's something about the shape of early Soviet jets that I find quite appealing. Looking forward to seeing this one take shape.

I like the early jets as those were the development of mostly Luft 46 concepts. Many of the early Soviet jets were the pod and boom design from design offices of Yakovlev, Lavochkin, Mig, Suchoi. I find them to be a unique and practical engine installation for the time. But as they found out, aerodynamically, they were not good concepts as they tended to have a very large frontal area.

I like the obscure and under appreciated kits. Not every model needs to be an Me-109 or and F-16 ( which are nice ).

I have built some early generation jets such as the Lavochkin La-15 Lavochkin LA-15 Fantail - Hobby Model Nr. 54 in 1/33 scale

and also the Me P1101 as well as the Yak, 15, 17, 17W and 23 and many of the Luft 46 jets.

Fun stuff.
