You have chosen to build a very interesting model and I will follow with great interest.

When finished, this model will be a great addition to your collection, not to mention your luft 46 collection.

Good luck

You are right, this is both an interesting plane as well as a model. I just love old jets and concept jets.

Let me know when you plan to come to Toronto.

Exclamation Engine inlets

The Mig-9 engines were located below the cockpit and air was ducted from the nose. Being a twin engine plane, the nose inlet was split up front into two separate ducts.

The kit uses dummy inlet bulkhead to shape the three sections which form the curved duct as well as the engine face plate ( which is so far in, I don't think it can be seen ). Once the sections are formed, you removed the construction dummy frames and discard them.

Here are the instructions

The parts

Dry fit

And installed.

I am just not sure if they are located correctly or needed to be forward by a small amount to meet the inlet section ( will find out ).

Very nice work Isaac. That is a lot of effort for something you might not see. A very complex skeleton too.

guys

There is a lot of stuff in this kit that is overly complex. And lots of tiny parts that I can't event cut.

Smile Cockpit -initial work

Before I can proceed with adding the skins on the fuselage, I need the cockpit done. The shape of the fuselage and the small opening on top require this technique.

Here is the basic cockpit tub minus the sides

Instrument panel here:

back rest parts, but I decided not to use them and instead cut thick card stock and colored to match. Much easier.

Side boxes

and a dry fit

More detailing to follow

Isaac, the cockpit looks great. Although, it doesn't look overly comfortable with the two back pads for support.

Pilots were a cheap commodity.

Cool Cockpit continued

As I add some more details, I come to the realization that most of the stuff hung to the cockpit side walls will not be seen because of the inward curved sidewalls. So I will decide what I will add and what to leave out.

So here it is
Mig-9 Papermodeling in 1/33 scale-img_2183.jpgMig-9 Papermodeling in 1/33 scale-img_2184.jpg

and installed

With the sidewalls and instrument panels up.

I will add more details later from the top.

and
I have to remember to add nose weight or else, I will have a tail seater.
