B-24 Witchcraft from my Son! 1/48th Dell

All,

My son and I went to see "Witchcraft" while it was flying through Seattle this past summer and so for Christmas, he got me John Dell's download! Here is the "in the box" shot along with a great picture of us with our "Witchcraft" T-shirts. This will be a fun build with interesting techniques. Since I'm still just learning, it's fun to see how different designers solve problems. The very pretty art work is loaded with helpful hints and even lots of ammo boxes, ladders and a black kitty cat! I'm going to build mine flying with the bays open and dropping some bombs into my office at work.

I couldn't wait to start cutting even though I have several other projects on-going...oh well!

Cheers and wish me luck.

Dan

I do wish you luck and I will be following your build thread. I have a couple of John Dell's aircraft (including the B-24 with the B-17 nose graft). I have not had time to start either one, so I am hoping to learn from your experience as you build this one.

Hi Missileer and John,

I hope my little build helps. So far it's really fun. Thanks for the link, John. It's really great to have you designers comment and help out. THANKS! (Especially for us newbies ).

I got the bomb bay done and the little faint arrows really help remind you of directions. It's all surprisingly sturdy especially when the racks are inserted.

I'll start on the nose next. Stay tuned!

Great (and fast) work on this beautiful bomber. John Dell's bombers are a real pleasure to assemble.

Thanks, Don. So far it sure has been nice.

Here I am as of tonight. I put in the bomb bay into part 4 (the wing section) and that really helped a lot with overall shape. Looking like a Lib now!

I think I'll make the wing spars next and then onto the rear fuse and tails!

Cheers,
Dan

A really fine looking assembly. I am interested is seeing how you plan to handle the "dropping bombs". I thought about doing something like that when I was building plastic aircraft, but it never went past the "thinking about it" phase ( no plan emerged).
