Compass
Ha
Its sort of bolted on the top of the upper and lower panel!! Im thinking of framing this panel like the previous one so Im going to leave off the gun sight as its sits very high and would make the frame a monster also. Ill give the compass a go - looks interesting to make. AlZ |

More gauges
Cheers Birder, you're keeping me going - Another gauge to investigate.......
Ive completed the Allemano Oil Pressure gauge. Its exactly the same construction as the previous fuel pressure gauge. This is quite small and very quick to make (I wish they were all so easy to construct). I also place my build pictures on Pinterest (as a running log). I actually got a pm via pinterest asking were I obtained the gauge. I loved explaining its not the real thing and its actually made from an old toilet roll and a CD case. https://www.pinterest.es/mad9562/mac...panel-replica/ Anyway, here's the latest repro: And in its position in the bottom left corner: Next item is the Tachometer. I popped in the local Aero museum here in Madrid and they have a similar item in there collection: This one reads too high as the Macchi item only went to 30 max. I managed to zoom in on a cockpit pic inside an original C202 and came up with this: The initial graphics look good on paper: I gave the numbers a different colour (to give it that authentic old look) to the Allemano gauges as this one is made by Borletti. Fire Extinguisher Switch
PMs
The next item for the panel is the Fire Extinguisher Switch. Again very difficult to find a good picture of what this item looked like but fortunatly I came across an example on a CR42 fighter: With the above picture the graphics were easy to generate: This design was printed onto silver sticky back paper. Once printed off it was stuck to card and a thick piece of MDF and finally cut out to shape: The 2 items were varnished and then screwed into place: Here it is on the full size panel: Its coming together!! Enjoy |

Wrinkle Paint
PMs
Last night I painted th lower panel with black wrinkle paint. Its outstanding stuff, nothing happens for about 30 mins then it goes mad. Look at the finish: Wow This stuff really dries well on MDF even with no need to seal the MDF, it just goes on. When dry, the rest of the instruments require fitting. Enjoy |
