Cool Main gear struts

Here are the main parts including the pivot made of wood dowel and metal pins that will go thru the front and rear spar.

the back pin in place prior to snipping it

and now with a yet unfinished wheel

and a little retract action ( just for fun. I will glue in place though )

both struts on ( use super glue for a strong bond ).

Cool Wheels

The wheels are laminated card that is sanded a bit to shape. I used the laser cut parts for this ( easier than cutting circles, but not really a big deal ).

first, a trial fit to see how they fit before I paint them
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2915.jpg

the initial parts
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2917.jpg

then add the inner hub which includes the brakes. notice their orientation.
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2919.jpg

The outboard wheel hubs will be attached to the door attached to the strut, but only glued once the wheels are glued to the struts.

Wheels are on ( use super glue to make a strong bond ). the outer hub and door are now glued on the wheel

and the last door attached to the wing bay

now the complete view

nose wheel next

Cool Nose wheel

The nose wheel is of a spoke design. Thus you need to remove the spaces in between to make it look good.
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2927.jpg

The best way to make sure that the spokes are strong is to insert one side and use super glue on the inside to coat the spokes and attach to the tire. Then add the center hub ( mine is a wood dowel wrapped in the kit part and drilled to accept the metal axle )
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2928.jpgFJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2929.jpg

It is completed. The small amount of super glue which I have on the side of the tire will be repainted.
FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale-img_2930.jpg

and on the strut.

I love it. Nice!
