Cool Canopy vacuforming

I am using my vacuforming machine.

Place the plug on the box

Here is my small shop vac

Set the oven to 350 deg F

Place the 0.01 inch clear plastic in the frame and then into the oven ( need two bricks on the oven tray ), picture not shown

The "spider veins" are because I let the plastic stay in the oven too long. Just let the plastic drop once and get it out and place over the plug on the vac box.

and its done, made multiple canopies ( Don, coming your way soon ).

and a rough cut and fit on the fuselage

Cool Future coating for the canopy

A nice way to add a shine to the canopy as well as protect it is to coat it in a bath of Pledge Future floor polish. Sometimes the name Future is not there on the bottle, but its the same thing.

So here it is during the bath

Then let it dry on the sticks

and cover over night.

That is all.

Next I will glue the framing to the canopy

It's amazing what one can learn from this forum. Floor polish on canopies. BTW! It's coming along amazingly. Almost done.

Actually, when it dries overnight, it is as hard as plastic , you can even use superglue at some spots without clouding the canopy. I used it on plastic models canopies with great results

Can anyone shed some light on this floor polish? Can you buy it in Europe? In The Netherlands for instance? And under what name can you buy it? I defintely would like to try it out!
