decision time
I needed to let everyone know that the kit contains parts for building the plane with a full landing gear and the bays as well as duplicate parts with all retracted , clean and in a flying configuration.
So before you go , you must make a decision. Gear up or gear down? Obviously building the model in a flying configuration is much easier and faster to build., but you can mount it on a stand as its a good display. My version will have the gear dropped and I am also planning to drop the flaps. Isaac

Engine inlet
The inlet is a plain cylinder that is blocked off at the back end representing the engine bullet nose.
here is the Allison J-35 engine and the parts and sub assemblies ( I used Yoav's method of inserting a round temporary frame inside the cylinder and applying super glue to the exterior to make sure the cylinder is round , the temporary frame is removed when dry ). notice the greening smile painted on the engine nose. You will see it a bit when fully assembled and looking inside The rest will be completed when it is mated to the forward fuselage. Isaac

So far, I am keeping up with you, Isaac, but I approach the nose section with guarded pessimism.
Will be in class for the rest of the day, and will be attending a Perspectives in Military History lecture tonight, but should be able to make some progress over the weekend. Don |

Great start, Isaac and Don.
No doubt this is going to be an interesting thread..... BTW, I always spray Americana clear coat on the model pages; so far I have not noticed any effect to the pages. Theo |

So far, I note that when I cut the parts sprayed with Americana, it feels a bit like the scissors are crunching the paper. But the cut is clean. Will see. Thanks for the advice. Isaac

Fuselage forward sections
The decision I made is to build the model with the landing gear down. Thus, use the proper pieces.
here are the parts roll the parts and glue the sections that make a complete loop. The sections between the inlet lip ( orange band ) and the back are open on the bottom and added later. Now glue the sections from back to front exposing the opening on the bottom for the nose gear bay. Do not add the frames yet Add the nose inlet. Isaac
