Excellent tutorial, Isaac. I have my work cut out for the next couple of days. Incidentally, a quick test indicates that the engine intake fits perfectly in the nose opening.

Smile Frames in forward fuselage

Now that you have the forward section built, it is time to insert the three frames. The fit is great and they sit on the edge of the glue tabs. Do not force them.

Smile assemble the intake and nose gear bay

now that the frames are in ,you can insert the nose gear bay first. However, the side glue tabs got in the way, so I folded them over and glued to the side not showing and then glued internally. the fit is good.

when dry, you can fit the inlet. It can be pushed all the way to the front and rests on the gear bay. Small amount of glue to the inlet open rim only is needed.

Very nice work on the nose, that looks extremely challenging.

Gary

Actually not challenging. Just pay attention to the joining of panel lines and the side nose art.

Coming from behind

I do not have the laser-cut frame set, so I had to laminate the frame outlines to 0.5mm card. I pressed the laminated sheets flat with an Army Green Book (the generic term for the volumes of U.S. Army in World War II series, of which I have many on hand). The laminated frames are in Image 2.

At 0.5mm, the frames are not very thick, but I still used the technique of cutting slits around each frame, then cutting out with a light touch. Image 3.

Image 4 shows (almost) all the parts required for the first 10 steps of the instructions, along with the nose shell assembly. I assembled the nose parts from front to rear.

After taking the photograph, I realized I had not cut out the wing spar, so I did so. Image 5 shows my method (earned from Kevin Stephens) of whanging a single-edge razor blade with a little X-acto hammer to get clean cuts for the slots. I had to use one hand to hold the camera, but you can imagine my left hand holding the razor blade in the pre-whang configuration.

Image 6 shows a closer view of the nose shell, the spar, and the pile of fuselage formers.

Tomorrow, I will install the nose wheel compartment, the first three formers, and the engine intake, and perhaps have a go at the cockpit assembly. Isaac installed the formers first, then the nose wheel compartment, but the instructions show the nose wheel compartment being installed first, and that will also give me a better chance at aligning the edges with the opening in the nose shell.

Safe journey, Isaac.

More later,

Don
