Question FJ-1 Fury in 1/33 scale

I am going to build the kit I purchased at the international paper convention back in 2014. I have the laser frames as well. But wanted to know if anyone made a vacuformed canopy for it? As can be seen from the designer version , they did not vacuformed it, but rather used a flat sheet that is cut up ( ugly in my opinion ).

Let me know where I can get a canopy. Otherwise, I will make my own.

I have this kit as a downloadable. I haven't seen any preformed glass for it. You will probably have to "roll your own".

I, too, have been wondering if a canopy is available for Martin's FJ-1, which appears to be an excellent and well-designed model.

I look forward to your build.

I negotiated for the the laser frames when I was there with you at the convention back in 2014 ( not sure who it was, but the kit was purchased from Peter Heesch ) and got it.

The Fury looks like a jet powered P-51 Mustang, so maybe the canopy ( not the windscreen is similar. I'll see if I can get a canopy, or as I said, I will make one.

Should be a fun build. I probably will build it with flaps down and all the control surfaces separated and the canopy open.

For those interested, here is the publishers web site:

or on ecard web site:

Try GPM. I think a version of this kit was published.

I was wondering about the P-51D canopy, too.

Best,

Don

Canopies

Looks like a great kit. Though I have not had any dealings with these folks, they have a lot of 1:33 canopies and wondering if something there might work close to what you need:

Wikipedia: "The FJ-1 was an early transitional jet of limited success which carried over similar tail surfaces, wing and canopy derived from the piston-engined P-51D Mustang." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_FJ-1_Fury

Good news, if true. However, a look through Paul Matt's U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Fighters, and Jim Mesko's Squadron-Signal pub, FJ Fury in Action reveals nothing about a P-51D canopy being used, and this U.S. Naval Institute blog discussion (https://blog.usni.org/2009/05/04/ori...ican-fj-1-fury) casts doubt. Wish Mike Scalingi (bomarc), the font of all truth and wisdom on anything North American Aviation, were still in the Forum. I'll bet he would know or know how to find out.

Don
