Smile The kit

The kit is designed in 1/33 scale and is electronically available directly from Paper Aviation web site:
North American FJ-1 Fury - Modellbaubogen

or from ecard:
https://www.ecardmodels.com/index.ph...d-warrior.html

However, I purchased the printed kit version in person from H&B Precision card models ( Peter Heesch ) during the 2014 paper convention in the Washington DC area. Of note, I also got the laser cut frames as well. Always a nice bonus.

here are some of the pages

Very crisp printing on high quality quality paper. Printed in Germany.

Nice layout, Isaac. I have this model and would like to build it some day, so will be watching with interest and taking notes.

Exclamation Nose gear bay

Here it is. Relatively simple. I kept the glue tabs for now, but not sure I will use it as is.

Question clear acrylic spray

Per a recent suggestion from my fellow modelers during our Toronto meet at my place, I decided for the first time to spray all the sheets prior to cutting with Americana clear mat acrylic spray. The purpose is to minimize damage to the parts when they are rolled or bent ( usually laser printed pages will damage if not protected ; yes, I built one kit that will not cooperate when the parts were rolled. ).

So I set out newspapers on my balcony floor ( outside ), laid out the pages and then spray painted a couple of thin coats.

the smell was so powerful that when I opened the door a few minutes later to come in, the odor followed me and there was this powerful smell all around the apartment. So, I am not sure I want to do it again.

of interest is that when dry, the pages felt like they were stiffer. So lets see how the build progresses.

here is the clear coat

and the pages after spray

Boose joins the group build

I could not resist Isaac’s kind offer to join his build, even though he is aware of my very modest skill level. In any event, I am going to give it a try.

I bought the kit directly from Martin Saenger in 2009, but held off on attempting a build, believing that it was beyond my capability. We shall see.

I have printed out sheets 2 and 3 of the model (fuselage nose section) on #234 Paris Bleed Proof paper for pens, which is about .0075 inches, or 0.19mm thick. I have also sprayed with matt Krylon UV-resistant acrylic coating. I also printed out Sheets 6 and 7 and tomorrow will laminate those pages to 0.5mm card.

None of my pens or Neocolor II crayons matched the zinc oxide primer color of the nose wheel housing, but Tombow 076 and 093 bracket it and Caran D’ache Neocolor II 7500.025 Green Ochre is fairly close.

I have several other projects in the works, but will try to keep up with Isaac on this build.

Don

Welcome to the build. This is a great way to share. Regarding the pace of building , I will be going for a day longer and then I'm going on a two week trip. I'll be posting my progress though and then pick it up again.

Just as an FYI , the kit has parts for a clean configuration flying plane or on the landing gear. Your choice. For me it is always on the gear.
