Pointers for a better model
I also checked out on the German forum the final pictures that modeler Rutzes built
Fly-Model Nr. 68, Lockheed S-3 "Viking", 1:33 - Galerie Luftfahrt - Kartonbau.de - Alles rund um Papiermodelle, Kartonmodellbau und Bastelbogen The nose really needs to look smooth. So regardless of how pure you wish to be , my suggestion is to address this condition. Either vacuform or after you build the paper nose, cover with plaster and sand it all smooth. Then spray paint. Not easy , but will look 1000 % better. Next issue that I see later on The kit engines placement of the fan rotors is totally wrong. The blades are practically at the inlet. Look on the internet for close up and modify. Here is one picture of the inlet That is my technical suggestion. The rest is up to you as an artist Have fun Isaac

I like the challenge to form a 2D shape into 3D and get a nice coloured model...not more...and that's a lot.

Hello Isaac,
I hope, I didn't offend you, but even it's "only" a hobby, it is possible sparking a war between two conceptions how a hobby has to be performed. Nevertheless a little update, the cockpit equipment becomes modern. Under old, below new.

Hello friends,
now the seats took their seats into the cockpit. I made some changes (belts, grips and the backplane was partially covered with little sheets of paper, because the positions lines weren't hidden through the guide rails), because the original seats had a boring outlook. By the way, the seats aren't Martin Bakers.

big surprise!
Hello friends,
I failed in building the nose of the viking (and I haven't made a backup copy). So I decided to buy a second kit but I was surprised if I compared the two sheets with the nose part on it. Have look to the picture (they are the same edition from 1995), the left one is the "new" kit and the right one is my first kit. The green circles mark the differences. Red is left, but only on this sheet.

Apparently they made the update to the ejection seat warning marking in the middle of the printing run.
I is an interesting anomaly, but it doesn't look as if it will affect your build. Don |
