I still have to add the two small clear plastic gun sight reflectors. But that will be close to the end when the windshield is on.

Isaac,

The speed brakes look great. Nice work on the pilot's office.

Smile Underbelly doors

Here are the main gear doors attached.

As noted earlier, the main doors are always closed when the gear is not retracted except for maintenance and when the aircraft is AOG for extended time and loses hydraulic pressure.

the wing doors are removed at this point.

Looking good Isaac and a very interesting insight in how you make the wheels. A circular cutter, seems like a very handy tool but I wonder if it also gives good results when cutting small circles, say half an inch and less?

Erik

You are right in your observation regarding the minimum diameter that this circular cutter can handle. About 1/2 inch diameter is just about the limit. Any smaller requires some sort of a punch set ( which I want to get for really small holes like in the inside of the speed air brakes ).

Question Landing gear struts- initial length

The original kit that Yoav designed has no landing gears. The struts, wheels and gear bays have all been adopted from a 1/50 scale model that was published and updated years ago. The struts are plain in their features.

Note:
I did not realize it until completed and glued to the aircraft, but the struts are way too long for this scale ( and yes, I did cut off the part that is inserted to the wing in the original version ) and made the plane look like a crane. For now, here it is and I will show the correction in a later post.

The strut parts are printed as separate parts, but I decided to combine them into a single roll. The mains are rolled around a wood dowel while the nose struts is wrapped around a paper clip

Here are the main struts
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3411.jpgSuper Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3412.jpgSuper Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3413.jpg

and glued to the bay axle using super glue
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3414.jpg

and a test fit of the wheel
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3415.jpg

both struts are glued

now the nose strut
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3421.jpgSuper Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3422.jpg

and ready, looks very simple and lacks features ( I will add the actuators and forks later ). Doors will add details as well.
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3423.jpg

installed
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3424.jpgSuper Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3425.jpg

and now the final version with the wheels glued in position
Super Mystere-Yoav's version in 1/30 scale-img_3427.jpg

Looks like a crane, magnificently tall! But not correct for this model.

Will perform surgery.
