P-47 Thunderbolt in 1:50 scale, Fire Ball, Marek!
The bug has bit me and I have the build fervor!
Found another Marek model, this one a P-47 Thunderbolt in 1/50 scale! I bought this back in January... of 2013! Printed it off and for what ever reason never built it. Now either my ink was low when I printed it or the colors have faded slightly, but the colors on the PDF are actually a lot brighter then this printing. However, waste not, want not. So I will build it anyhow! This model is somewhat simplified compared to many Marek models, as there are no wheel wells, and no cockpit. Makes this a relaxing build right? We will see. I have enjoyed all of his models I have built so far so I am betting this one is no different. The perfect thing to toy with and relax with in my evenings. So here we go! Oh, and if you want to try one yourself, you gen get one for $3.00 here: https://www.ecardmodels.com/…/1-50-r...47m-1-thunder… and you can see all of Mareks other models in both 1:50 scale and 1:33 scale at Ecardmodels.com

Some work done. I cut out the shell ejector holes and the wheel wells and layered a piece of black paper behind to make the color pop a bit more and give a 3-d effect. When I printed these the color was a bit light so the black was dingy. I also got a few other sections done and together.... more soon.

The black paper certainty helps.

Well, progress. More to this model then first expected. The little vents on the side are a bit tricky. But they are togather. The wings wit better then first expected. More to go.

Thanks Curt. It's nice to be building again!
This model is far more complex then I had originally thought. Even though there is no cockpit, it has a lot of tiny details in the finishing! Although I am probably butchering this model it is fun and a learning experience. Like some of my other model that I printed off years ago only to build after some fading has happened, I think this one deserves a reprint and second attempt at a better build at some point. The big thing is, the frames are exact. A bit of a wobble in cutting the formers and the skins have issues as you can tell with this attempt. With Mareks ME-109 models I had a bit of forgiveness in that, but this one is tight. And I never really realized how many vents and holes the P-47 had! Almost as bad as a late model ME-109! And I refuse to attempt to roll those eight little machine guns from paper so I will some how cheat on those when the time comes. But over all, a lot of fun. Marek told me on FB (through the auto translation I think) that this was one of his earlier models although it wasn't digital until 2003. Pretty good model actually!
