Fokker DVII 1/48, 1/72 design

I'm showing these images mostly to establish that I am indeed making my own Fokker DVII designs.

I looked at the Kampfflieger designs and decided that they did not suit me so have been working on my own 3D model in Rhino.

I have based it generally upon an image that I found publicly available and have made such modifications as fit my own impressions and ideas. I have discovered a fair amount of variation even in historical photographs to say nothing of the huge range of differences in detail between recent CAD models.

I do not plan on selling any of the results of this work. Mostly I have been working on this because of my desire to play around with lozenge camoflauge and want something that hopefully can be quickly built.

Carl

Hi Carl

Hi Carl,

Just discovered that Yankee Boy is really Old Troll who looks like a Neanderthal in real life. Things you discover when you're not looking for them...,

The Fokker DVIII is one of my favorites. It's the airplane that Anthony Fokker showed the world what he had learned about designing and building airplanes just before the war ended. At the end of the war Fokker went around Germany collecting D VIIIs on flatbed rail cars (Germany hadn't paid him). He made the train overlong so it couldn't be put on a siding and had to be let through all the way back to Holland.

I've collected a good amount of detail on Fokker aircraft over time so if you need additional detail just let me know.

Glad to see you back,

-Gil

P.S. Spoked wheels are mandatory.

Bear,

So are you designing a D.VII or D.VIII in this thread?

Hi - I noticed the problem with the thread title just now, myself.

It is the DVII. The D8 will be an interesting idea for another day.

Cripes Almighty...,

I meant Fokker DVII...,

This is all your fault Carl and I'm holding you responsible for it - or something like that...,

Best,
-Gil

It's OK Gil, blame it on me. I knew what you meant!

Some more images for a thread that is already longer than I imagined it would be...

I am now laying out parts for coloring.

...and do keep in mind that this will not be a 1:35 scale model but much simpler.
