Mystere IVa- Yoav design in 1/30 scale
Now that I finished my F-104G build ( in record time ), I have a bit more time this month to build another model. After looking at my 30+ printed kits ( many with canopies and laser frames ), I decided to add to my Israeli Air Force collection of Yoav's designed plane. So I built his F-4E and just recently the Super Mystere and next I choose the Mystere IVa in the late 60's scheme of brown and blue camouflage.
I have built the Mystere IVa many times in 1/50 scale and here is one thread I did a year and a half ago: Mystre IV A - IAF repaint double Also, I purchased the GPM version in 1/33 scale and here is that build: Dassault Mystere IVa- GPM version So I will now have a good comparison between Yoav's version and GPM's The kit design: Yoav did a fantastic job in designing and rendering the model. My interest has always been to have a very realistic finish on the models and Yoav's designs are always that good. here is a link to his builds: Mystere iv - building report Myster iv - finished model and a montage of his other planes: my models in Photomontage 2 French brothers So I will report shortly on my progress Isaac

Best of luck Isaac, I look forward to another one of your fantastic build threads (especially when it's one of Yoav's birds).

Lets start
After many printer issues ( including throwing away all 4 ink cartridges which apparently were no good and produced funky colors ), I managed to print all the pages correctly and then sprayed them with Americana matt finish acrylic spray to prevent the paper colors from running.
One thing about Yoav's design is that they are very easy to build in comparison to the Polish kits which love lots of parts to accomplish the same thing. I started at both front and back ends. The nose intake is a round cylinder with a spliter inserted ( for now it is only dry fitted. I applied the Super glue around the mouth of the cylinder after inserting the assisting ring in place ( which is removed when dry ) Then, the exhaust which is similar. and both ends Isaac

Comparison- Nose splitter
Here is a comparison of what it takes to put the splitter on the GPM kit of the same plane
and the simple solution of Yoav kit I do have to clean up the glue around the intake. Isaac

Fuselage parts
Here are all the tubes, cones and cylinders that make up the fuselage.
Looks simple and uncomplicated. Note: since this is most likely the last model that I will build while in Toronto, I decided to keep it simple. I will only add the landing gear and bays. I may not even open the canopy ( but, I will decide later ). So no open speed brakes, or flaps or separate the control surfaces. It will be a beautiful and fast build. Isaac

Fuselage construction
The method I chose is to build the fuselage from the aft and the front and have them join at the cockpit opening.
So lets start from the back with the rear section add the exhaust go forward and now join the center section all very simple parts and good fit. Isaac
