B52 gpm 066 3'97
Hi All,
At this time I would like to share with you my B52 GPM 066 build. I have purchased the kit in Moscow more than 10 years ago and looked for others to see progress. I'm glad that I have invested more and bought also (later from the internet) the Laser cut kit. I have started with the engines, as was posted here, and I'm glad I followed that... In general, it is both my bad build and the model limits, but if someone could make use of the pictures I attach, that's all good for me. |

Excellent subject. I suppose your home is as big as the Seaview mansion in Rhode Island which was used for the TV series Dark Shadows. Otherwise, no place to exhibit this beautiful B-52!! Congratulations!!

I don't get the chance to come here very often these days, but Rick pointed this thread out to me {Thanks Rick} so i popped in...Glad i did You are doing a great job thus far. My Favorite aircraft of all time. I started building the original GPM model of this. RON40 {Ron Hall, now making models in heaven} sent the model to me. I was amazed at the sheer size of this kit. During the build my hands started with a skin disorder {Pompholyx} that ruined some of the card. Billy Leliveld {your POTW editor} sent me a scan of the ruined parts. Unfortunately the problem became too bad and was being aggravated by handling paper/card, so much so, that i had to give up building paper models altogether. This place used to be my second home, but now my time is all taken up on other real life things. This is a fine hobby, and i wish you all the best with your build. I will pop in to see your progress. Enjoy

This will be one monster of a huge model once finished. From what you've shown it looks to be coming along very nicely. Looks great to me.
Here's something to remember. Everyone, including myself, may not have the ability to turn out perfect works of art. But, as long as you enjoy what your doing it doesn't matter how it turns out. So just sit back, and enjoy!!! |

This is a big project in every sense!
You will surely attract a lot of attention in this forum. Including mine. But please do not feel pressured to speed the build. The more care you put into it, the better. You have started very well with those engines. They look great. Laser frames surely help a lot (and prevent a great deal of pain and blisters). And the way you are forming the skins is very precise. We are happy that you share this build with us. Thank you very much.

Thank you All
Peter, your thread and build log was looked into so many times by me. Inspiring me how to treat this huge one. Thanks to you and others I looked at, this is the main reason I put my pictures here.
The model lacks a lot, you could see one of the pictures were the color of one wing is not the same between 2 parts of it, and so on. but I decided to make this as it is. Shipbuild, progress... for now I have a bet... I made it a year ago. with my daughter: who will make it first to 1meter and 48cm? the model or the girl... She is close to beat me. Just to be clear my work is 80%-90% done, but probably these 10%-20% are the hardest |
