So, just so everyone can see what they might be getting into with this model, here's a comparison of the Halinski landing gear design and instructions on the left versus those for the Kartonowa Kolekcja Buffalo on the right. You can see that the KK version is much simplified, having done away with most of the various rods and having a plain central box for the struts to attach to. And why not? You're probably not going to be allowing people to pick up your model and examine its undercarriage for historical accuracy, are you?

I don't recall ever seeing anyone show a comparison of of kit instructions before. Nice idea.

Well, Don, here's how things turned out. I replaced all the paper-wrapped wire parts with styrene rod. Measure, cut, shape, test fit, repeat -- patience is definitely required on this part!

Well, it looks like some of my previous thumbnails fell victim to the recent forum maintenance. Oh, well.

Here's a look at the aft cockpit formers. This is an unusual construction method -- there's really nothing connecting the forward and aft frames together until the cockpit deck and side panels get put on. In the meantime, one literally works on the cockpit area in two halves. Some of this detail will be hidden; it appears the kit is designed with the option of displaying a starboard side access panel in the open position, an option I will pass on, thank you.

Very nice "skeleton" you have going there! I think that Halinski models might make very good aircraft models without any outer skins at all. BTW, I was down in Greenville this very morning. Nice town, Greenville. Also, I see from your profile that you like fishing. What kind of fishing do you do? I'm a Trout/Tenkara guy, myself.

Curt, back in my California days I fished mostly for rainbow and brown trout in the Sierras. My preference was for small streams and UL spinning gear. I've only been out a few times since moving to SC, but I've fished a little bit on the Saluda up around Jones Gap SP. I've seen some of the NC side of the line and there is some very tempting trout water there. May have to splurge on a non-resident license and head up that way.
