Cool Model-Kom Suchoi Su-15 first version

I was looking over new kits and this original prototype of a Suchoi Su-15 showed up on the Model-Kom site:

MODEL-KOM

This is a very interesting twin engine ( yes it is a twin with one engine behind and above the other exhausting in separate locations ) .

I have a book on early Soviet jets and love to build them?

Anyone build this one or has a link to a build log?

Thanks

Isaac

Never build it, although I once started designing my own 1/100 scale version.
Sorry

Very unique looking aircraft. I would have never guessed it was a twin engine.

The first generation jets relied on much of the German jet technology ( known as Luft 46 projects ). So there were many studies in engine installations floating then. One type of multi engine installation was the Tandem arrangement. This arrangement was not pursued by the west.
However, the Soviets did build various prototypes such as the This early Su-15 (1), the Mig I-320 and the Lavochkin La-200 various versions. However, these were bulky designs and were quickly discarded.

Here is a Youtube video of Soviet early jets. Great for familiarization of what was going on there.

Always fascinated by first generation jet planes.

That Su-15 and Mig I-320 look sort of like a Greenland shark with its mouth open.

Did you get laser cut frames, resin wheels, and canopies?
