Murph's Models Vought V-173 Flying Flapjack

I've had this model on the hard drive for a long time, and finally got around to building it. The model can be purchased for a mere $3 here: http://murphs-models.webs.com/x-planes. The model is built completely stock. I did add a bunch of wadded up toilet paper in the fuselage behind the wing spar (body spar?) to prevent the paper fuselage from collapsing with age. I also added paper tubes inside the prop hubs that extend into the prop shaft covers on the fuselage so the props can rotate and be removed. It's not the easiest kit to build, much care must be taken to align the top to bottom fuselage joint to prevent the fuselage from warping. The model is amazing for Murph's ability to design an airplane with no straight lines into a (fairly) easy to build kit.

I built that a couple of years ago at the normal scale. I too stuffed it with toilet paper, lol. I don't remember it being a particularly difficult build. I didn't make the propeller spin though.

That's really cool! What a weird looking plane too. I really admire guys like murph and airdave and such that can make their model designs so simple and clean looking. great build!
