ModelFan F-16A Fighting Falcon 1/33 (recolor and redesign)
It's been quite some time since I began working on this kit. The simplicity of its build impressed me a lot.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about its level of detail. Original panel lines look awful, almost in a cartoonish way, but worst of all, they aren't correctly aligned, not mentioning the fact that some panel lines are missing. Nose shape is incorrect in almost everything. Another urgent matter is related to the engine nozzle. The one designed for the kit doesn't look exactly like a real Pratt & Whitney F-100-PW-200 So I thought to myself: Fine, let's see if I can do something about it instead of just complaining hehehe! And here are some good (ok, not that good :P) results: Now I guess this F-16A looks way more "Falcon-ish" than before, but there's still a lot of work to do. Cockpit layout and canopy goes next. This is the beta build test, so suggestions are welcome! |

good work on the re-paint.
Next year, with God's help, I also hope to build an Israeli F-16A scale 1:30. Good luck with the project. YOAV |

Maybe I should consider designing the IAI LAVI once I finish my work on the Modelfan kit :V |

This is the early beta build test of the cockpit, based on F-16A Block 5.
Note the considerable amount of analog instruments compared to most recent blocks :V |

The fighting falcon is one of the most challenge jet to assembly. The aerodynamic curve is one of the most complex part for paper modeler to design. I experienced it for ten years before get an answer for it. This complex part is enable me to design the Raptor and the Lighting afterward.

Now onto the blended wing body...
It took lots of trial and error to reach the desired shape. But after a couple of hours, bingo! Original blended wing body on the model kit is too wide. That's the reason why I was forced to modify that entire section. Some panel lines on the wings have been removed, while the rest of them are now in the right place. Cheers! |
